Following a recent restructure as part of our response to recent DFE guidance we are seeking a passionate and committed Inclusion Officer to join our team and play a key role in promoting inclusive practice across schools.This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with schools, families and partner agencies to support children and young people who may be at risk of suspension, exclusion or disengagement from education. The successful candidate will help schools develop effective behaviour strategies, facilitate early intervention, and ensure that vulnerable pupils receive the support they need to thrive. About the Role As an Inclusion and Behaviour Support Officer, you will work closely with schools and multi-agency partners to promote positive behaviour, reduce suspensions and permanent exclusions, and strengthen inclusive practice across the local authority. You will provide advice and guidance on behaviour, attendance and exclusion processes, support schools in developing intervention plans, and help ensure that statutory guidance is applied consistently and effectively. This role requires a proactive and collaborative professional who can build strong relationships, analyse data, provide practical support, and advocate for children and young people facing barriers to education.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- A strong commitment to inclusion and improving outcomes for children and young people.
- Knowledge of behaviour management, attendance, reintegration and exclusion processes within education settings.
- Understanding of SEND and the impact unmet needs can have on behaviour and engagement.
- School experience in Primary/Secondary/Specialist settings.
- Experience of working with schools, families and multi-agency partners to support vulnerable pupils.
- Strong communication, relationship-building and influencing skills.
- Ability to analyse data and use evidence to inform interventions and decision-making.
- Experience of managing sensitive casework and maintaining accurate records.
- Confidence in delivering training, guidance and support to a range of stakeholders.
