Are you a waste industry and/or contract management professional with experience in managing commercial aspects of large contracts? Do you possess excellent financial, commercial and contracts negotiation skills? Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority is seeking an experienced, strategic Contracts Commercial Manager to lead in the effective delivery of major waste management contracts. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, the successful postholder will sit within the Contracts team and will be at the forefront of the Authority's efforts to deliver excellent services and value for money for the residents and District Councils of the Liverpool City Region.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the effective delivery of major waste management contracts.
  • Manage the commercial aspects of contracts, ensuring value for money and alignment with Authority objectives.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders at senior levels across partner organisations and districts.
  • Work with minimal supervision while contributing to a high-performing contracts team.
  • Support continuing professional development through participation in relevant training and networking opportunities.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Ability to write clear and concise reports, letters and statements on behalf of the Authority.
  • Excellent information technology skills (including Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Ability to analyse complex information and present that information in a clear manner.
  • Familiarity with project management/programme management.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to navigate between competing priorities and achieve key deadlines.
  • Excellent presentation skills.

Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority (MRWA) is a strategic waste and resource management authority, leading on the recycling and management of municipal waste across the Liverpool City Region. MRWA manages waste resources, recycling and the transportation of waste on behalf of six district councils across the region, including Halton, Knowsley, Liverpool, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral. The Authority serves more than 1.5 million people, providing waste management infrastructure and operational services across Liverpool City Region through two major waste management contracts, including 16 household waste recycling centres, 2 materials recovery facilities.
