Job Overview
We are currently looking to recruit a CCTV Operator for 11.5hrs per week. The successful candidate will follow strict compliance with statutory legislation relating to CCTV, evidential information and operational processes. The role includes acting as a Data Controller as defined in the Data Protection Act 1998 and complying with CCTV Codes of Practice, Operational Control Room procedures, service standards and management records. The CCTV control room operates 24/7, 365 days per year with a three‑shift system covering twenty‑four hours. Operators work six on six off and report to the CCTV supervisor and manager.
Shift Pattern & Holiday Cover
The shift pattern includes two‑night shifts from 23:00 to 07:00 followed by ten days off. Half of the holiday cover for the rest of the CCTV team and one period per year in March for a full set of six shifts are incorporated into this post. These include two‑day shifts (07:00–15:00), two‑back shifts (15:00–23:00), and two‑night shifts (23:00–07:00). Nighttime working enhancements apply only to the back and night shifts. Overtime may be offered for covering the other half of the team’s holidays or sickness cover.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all CCTV systems operate effectively at all times and comply with Home Office guidance and recommendations.
- Act on key‑holding and response procedures, ensuring an effective service and maintaining appropriate records.
- Operate radio and telephone links to contact partner agencies and liaise on actions required in response to activity seen on CCTV monitors.
- Other duties as required.

- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to develop good working relationships internally and externally to achieve service delivery targets.
