We are looking to recruit a committed and proactive Attendance Welfare Officer to help drive improved school attendance and support better outcomes for children and young people. The post holder will be responsible for:
- Contributing towards improved school attendance, working closely with schools, academies, colleges, young people, and their families to address absence issues.
- Supporting the Local Authority's statutory duties, in line with Section 444 of the Education Act 1996 and Working Together to Improve School Attendance.
- Working in partnership with a range of agencies to reduce persistent and severe absence, as well as children missing education, to promote the safeguarding and wellbeing of pupils.
- Supporting Head Teachers/Principals and senior staff across schools, academies, and colleges in establishing and achieving attendance targets.
- Focusing on individual persistent absentees and monitoring outcomes for pupils.
- Be responsible for issuing work permits to young people of compulsory school age.
- Issue entertainment and chaperone licences in line with Local Authority policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the ongoing review, evaluation, and development of the service.
- Help maximise trading opportunities and support continuous improvement.
