Overview

The Legal Delivery Division sits within the Legal Operations Directorate of the COO Group within GLD. The division supports lawyers across GLD through legal process improvement, automation, technology use, data‑driven insights, and complementary service skills such as Legal Project Management. The role of Legal Project Manager is to drive efficiency, enhance service delivery, and provide operational support across GLD.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand challenges and drive process improvements.
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables, and develop comprehensive plans with clear timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, monitor spend and provide financial reporting to ensure cost‑effective delivery.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day project execution, coordinating teams and proactively addressing risks to ensure timely delivery.
  • Act as a liaison, leading meetings and ensuring transparent, aligned communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Continuously analyse and enhance workflows, implementing best practices and technology to improve efficiency.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, ensuring all deliverables meet quality and compliance standards.
  • Lead change initiatives and deliver training to embed project management practices and support adoption of new tools.
  • Conduct post‑project evaluations, report on performance metrics, and use feedback to drive continuous improvement.

Sponsorship and Visas

GLD may provide sponsorship for skilled workers who meet the eligibility criteria under current immigration legislation. Sponsorship is not guaranteed and applicants must ensure they meet the criteria and notify the Resourcing Team at the start of the onboarding process.

Clearances

All GLD employees must hold BPSS security clearance. SC security clearance is desirable but not essential; candidates willing to obtain this level of clearance will be considered.

Essential requirements

  • Working with and upward managing senior stakeholders.
  • Project delivery experience with creation of project plans and trackers, managing scope, timelines and deliverables.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple legal projects independently.
  • Managing resources in an optimal and cost‑efficient way to achieve objectives.
  • End‑to‑end project management experience using Agile and Lean methodologies.
  • Data management and reporting.
  • Experience of managing project budgets.
  • Business development, building strategic relationships.
  • Working in a cross‑functional environment and experience of influencing others.
  • Ability to embed legal and other technologies, with a focus on change management.

Desirable requirements

  • Understanding of legal project delivery, legal risk, or legal operations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and M365; familiarity with MS Project, Visio, and Power BI.
  • Experience in applying lean/continuous improvement methodologies.

Qualifications – Minimum Eligibility Criteria

Prince2, MSP, APM or Agile accreditation along with essential experience.

Salary and Benefits

Alongside a salary of £57,263, GLD contributes £16,589 towards your membership of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. Additional benefits include learning and development tailored to your role, flexible working options, and a culture encouraging inclusion and diversity.
