Overview

Under general supervision, performs a variety of administrative and clerical duties to ensure effective and efficient assistance to the Treasurer’s Office. Work involves providing assistance to the general public regarding numerous personal properties, such as, but not limited to; vehicles, boat, motors, campers, RVs, trailers, ATVs and any other taxable personal property as needed. Reports to the Treasurer and Deputy Treasurer. Provides assistance to the general public inquiring over the telephone, email and in person regarding personal property, some real property question, Homestead, and Appeals.

Responsibilities

  • Answer all incoming calls, providing callers with information, transferring calls, and taking appropriate messages.
  • Perform secretarial functions such as typing, filing, data entry, answering phones, and faxing information.
  • Prepare all required forms and documents in the appropriate manner, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Receive, review, prepare and/or submit a variety of documents such as telephone messages, drafts of letters, etc.
  • Operate a variety of equipment, including a computer, printer, typewriter, copier, fax machine, telephone, calculator, etc.
  • Balance daily work and run various reports daily and when needed.
  • Interact and communicate with departmental supervisors and employees, County department heads and employees, realtors, attorneys, taxpayers, and the general public.
  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines and equipment including computers and general office equipment.
  • Ability to compare and/or judge readily observable, functional, structural or compositional characteristics of data, people or things.
  • Ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information; receive assignments and directions from supervisors.
  • Ability to read policy and procedure manuals, computer manuals, records, codes of law, ordinances, resolutions, dictionaries, etc.
  • Ability to enter data into computer and prepare reports, records, forms, official papers, correspondence, etc., with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to speak with poise, voice control and confidence and to articulate information to others.
  • Ability to apply rational systems to solve practical problems and interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
  • Ability to make independent judgments in the absence of supervision; acquire knowledge of topics related to primary occupation.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret received information and basic office machinery functions.
  • Ability to record and deliver information, explain procedures, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in a variety of technical or professional terminology used within the parameters of the job.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, determine percentages and decimals, and calculate time; apply practical applications of fractions, percentages, ratio and proportion.

Qualifications
