We have an excellent track record of exam passes. You will be working with other fellow student accountants also studying AAT/ACCA/ICAEW which makes it easy to help each other through the examination process.

Wage: £13,750 a year

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 5.00pm. 35 hours a week

Start date: Monday 13 October 2025

What you'll do at work:

  • Initially, you will be preparing payrolls for distribution to clients, liaising with clients by telephone, preparing word documents to correspond with agencies such as the Registrar of Companies.
  • You will also be preparing excel spreadsheets to analyse income and expenditure from client records, preparing VAT Returns and advising clients how much VAT to pay or be recovered and submitting VAT Returns to HM Revenue & Customs.

Training: Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You'll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Training course: Accountancy or taxation professional (level 7)

  • Demonstrate good project management skills to deliver high quality work within the appropriate timeline.
  • Act as a role model and motivate others to deliver results.
  • Evaluate information quickly and draw accurate conclusions.
  • Assess a problem from multiple angles to ensure all relevant issues are considered.
  • Gather the appropriate facts and evidence in order to make decisions effectively.

Training schedule: Day release as necessary for AAT (usually one day per week depending on course requirements) and ACCA/ICAEW to First Intuition Chelmsford or Southend.

Essential qualifications: GCSE in:

  • English Language (grade 5)
  • Mathematics (grade 5)
