This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience within a professional finance environment while working towards a recognised professional qualification.

Wage: £25,185 a year

Training course: Accountancy or taxation professional (level 7)

Hours: Monday - Friday (Times to be confirmed). 37 hours 30 minutes a week

Start date: Tuesday 1 September 2026

Duration: 3 years

What you’ll do at work:

  • The successful candidate will join the central finance team for the Trust and provide support and advice to individual schools within the Trust.
  • You will experience first-hand how both schools and central finance operate.
  • You will be supported to do your accountancy qualification, receiving training and challenging assignments.
  • Undertake monthly tasks as part of the month end process to ensure that internal management reporting deadlines are met.
  • Preparation of monthly accruals and completion of account reconciliations.
  • Provision of central finance support to finance teams within schools.
  • Provision of ad hoc financial information and analysis to assist with annual reporting processes.
  • Present a positive personal image, contributing to a welcoming school environment which supports equal opportunities.
  • Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school.
  • Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required.
  • Treat all users of the school with courtesy and consideration.
  • Any other tasks commensurate with the role as directed by the Executive Headteacher or Head of School.

Where you’ll work: Cockburn School, Gipsy Lane, Leeds LS11 5TT

Training: Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You'll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Training schedule: Accounting and Taxation Professional Level 7 - ACCA. This programme enables individuals to become fully qualified in a profession which is globally recognised and respected in areas of accountancy, taxation, finance and business.

Requirements:

  • Essential qualifications: Maths (grade 9 - 5), English (grade 9 - 5), Any degree (grade 2:2 or above).
