Full on the job training to become a qualified AAT member. This will include teaching software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, MS Office and IRIS to complete client bookkeeping, accounts and tax returns. External courses will be sat to gain additional work‑based knowledge.

Wage: £15,080 to £23,958.35, depending on your age.

Training Course: Assistant accountant (level 3).

Hours: 36.25 hours a week (7.25 per day) Monday to Friday 8.45am to 4.45pm (including 0.75 unpaid lunch). Flexi time to be offered after completing probation.

Start Date: Monday 13 July 2026.

Duration: 1 year 6 months.

Work Responsibilities: The main duties will include:

  • Monthly and quarterly bookkeeping to prepare management accounts and VAT returns using Sage, Xero, QuickBooks & Excel.
  • Drafting statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
  • Basic personal and corporate tax.
  • General personal management to complete tasks, including emailing clients, answering phone, and meeting and greeting clients.

Location: 29 Gildredge Road EASTBOURNE BN21 4RU.

Training: Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You'll study to gain professional knowledge and skills. Training Provider: EAST SUSSEX COLLEGE GROUP.

What You'll Learn: Course contents:

  • Assist with the investigation and response to financial information queries.
  • Record and analyse financial data using the organisation's standard tools and processes.
  • Apply double‑entry bookkeeping and accounting standards to process financial documents, generate financial statements and report financial information to users of accounts.
  • Assist with production of accurate financial information for the preparation of accounts.
  • Reconcile financial data, such as preparation of reconciliations or review of reconciliations.
  • Investigate, resolve or escalate transactional queries and errors within the remit as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Communicate financial information in a way that non‑finance stakeholders can interpret and understand.
  • Utilise digital skills to present key financial information using finance and accounting software and applications.
  • Use software packages to assist with basic accounting tasks in line with cyber and data security requirements, including backing up data.
  • Communicate using varying approaches and media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.

Training Schedule: East Sussex College will provide the apprenticeship framework and training schedule, including Knowledge, Skills, Behaviour, Diploma (if included) and Functional Skills (if required). Weekly college attendance at ESCG Eastbourne Campus.

Requirements: Desirable qualifications: GCSE in English and Maths (grade C / 4 or above or equivalent).

Other Requirements: Candidates must live locally enough to the Eastbourne office to benefit from this opportunity.
