Kickstart your career with a Level 7 Accountant Apprenticeship at TaxAssist Accountants, where you'll gain hands‑on experience across accounts preparation, payroll, VAT, personal tax, and capital gains tax.

Wage: Competitive wage offered.

Hours & Duration: You will work Monday to Friday 9:00 – 5:30pm with a 1 hour lunch break, 37 hours 30 minutes a week. Overtime may be required for seasonal deadlines. The apprenticeship lasts 3 years with a start date of Saturday 1 August 2026.

What you’ll do at work:

  • Assisting with the preparation of year‑end accounts for a range of clients
  • Supporting the completion and submission of VAT returns
  • Assisting with personal tax returns and liaising with clients for information
  • Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records using accounting software
  • Communicating with clients to resolve queries and gather documentation
  • Ensuring compliance with HMRC deadlines and regulations
  • Supporting senior accountants with ad‑hoc tasks and client work

Administrative duties:

  • Answering phone calls and handling general enquiries
  • Responding to emails and directing queries to the relevant team members
  • Scheduling client appointments and managing calendars
  • Organising and maintaining client files and records
  • Assisting with onboarding new clients and setting up systems
  • General office administration and day‑to‑day support for the team

Training: Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Training course: Accountancy or taxation professional (level 7)

Training schedule: Initial AAT Level 4 exams are followed by progression onto Chartered studies with ACCA/ICAEW after completion of Level 4. Attendance at the office in Banbury or Bicester will be required, and arrangements may be made for college attendance when required.

Requirements:

  • Essential qualifications: GCSE English (grade 4) and GCSE Maths (grade 4)
  • Desirable qualifications: Level 3 (grade 70%) or other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
