Wage: £14,722.50 to £23,809.50, depending on your age

Training course: Accountancy or taxation professional (level 7)

Hours: Monday - Friday, shifts to be confirmed. 37 hours 30 minutes a week

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You will learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you will do at work:

  • An opportunity has arisen for a trainee ACA accountant to join our team.
  • The candidate can either be a college leaver after completion of 'A' levels or a Graduate.
  • The role is varied looking after the provision of general practice services to a broad portfolio of the firm’s clients.
  • The clients range from entrepreneurial business start-ups through to established large corporate businesses.

The candidate: We are looking for an individual who is looking for diversity of work and who enjoys working closely with clients. The role is hands-on and will include:

  • Working with the portfolio manager
  • Completing work on a varied portfolio of clients
  • Production of Financial accounts, management accounts, VAT returns etc.
  • Assisting senior members of staff on Audits
  • Maintaining, promoting and developing good relationships with clients
  • Completing a training programme in line with your studies as your skills and experience progress

Where you will work: 8 Winmarleigh Street, Warrington, UK WA1 1JW

Training: Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You will study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Your training course: Accountancy or taxation professional (level 7)

What you will learn:

  • Influence the impact of business decisions on relevant and affected communities based on an appreciation of different organisations and the environments in which they operate.
  • Communicate in a clear, articulate and appropriate manner. Adapt communications to suit different situations, individuals or teams.
  • Identify ethical dilemmas, understand the implications and behave appropriately.
  • Understand their legal responsibilities, both within the letter and the spirit of the law, as well as be aware of the procedures for reporting concerns over potentially unethical activities.
  • Take ownership of allocated projects and effectively manage their own time and the time of others. Demonstrate good project management skills to deliver high quality work within the appropriate timeline.
  • Evaluate information quickly and draw accurate conclusions. Assess a problem from multiple angles to ensure all relevant issues are considered. Gather the appropriate facts and evidence in order to make decisions effectively.

Your training plan: ACA Level 7

ACA is a great option if you are looking to become a chartered accountant and work in accountancy and finance. It opens a wealth of opportunities, as you can specialise in specific areas or sectors, or work broadly across multiple industries. It consists of three levels: Certificate, Professional, and Advanced. You will also need to have 450 practical work experience days. It will take around three years to complete the qualification.

Certificate Level: You will be introduced to the essentials of accountancy, finance, and businesses. You will learn about double-entry accounting, assurance, business and technology, law, management, and taxation. This level takes around one year to complete.

Professional Level: This level teaches you how to apply technical knowledge to real-life scenarios. This level takes around one year to complete.

  • Business Planning papers (Tax, Banking, or Insurance)

Advanced Level: ACA Advanced will give you the skills to understand how accountancy and finance works within businesses. You will learn about corporate reporting and strategic business management, and take a case study, which tests your overall knowledge. This level takes around one year to complete. You will become eligible for chartered accountancy status upon qualifying. You will be able to work in exciting roles such as auditor, forensic accountant, financial accountant, and tax specialist.

Every Apprenticeship includes an End Point Assessment (EPA), assessed by an independent End Point Assessment Organisation (EPAO). The apprentice will take their EPA at the end of their programme where they will demonstrate they are competent in the role that they have developed in.

This Apprenticeship Standard End Point Assessment will include:

  • Project Report

Essential qualifications: GCSE or equivalent in:

  • Maths (grade 9/A* - 4/C)
  • English (grade 9/A* - 4/C)

Desirable qualifications: Other in:

  • Degree (grade 2:2)
  • AAT L4 (grade Any)
  • A Level or equivalent in: Relevant (grade A-C)
