Contract: Permanent, Full Time, 39 hrs per week, Mon-Fri with on-call

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Carpenter to join our team at HMP Erlestoke, a CATEGORY C Adult Male prison.

Team Environment: Join a team that is more than just colleagues - we work MONDAY TO FRIDAY as a supportive family, creating a safe and nurturing environment. HMP Erlestoke functions like a self-contained city, and our Facilities Maintenance Team ensures its smooth and safe operation, impacting prisoners, staff, visitors, and the wider community.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside experienced colleagues including Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, Cleaners, and Administrators.
  • Utilize your carpentry skills to contribute to the safety and security of the facility.
  • Adhere to health and safety requirements and operate associated power tools and machinery safely.
  • Maintain basic IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Substantiated experience in a similar role or NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety standards.
  • Up-to-date First Aid at Work Qualification.
  • Good organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
