Home Office Digital designs and runs services that support millions of visa and passport applications, border checks, and policing checks each year. As a Principal Data Engineer, you'll lead multi-functional teams to deliver robust data services, helping unlock value from data and deliver better outcomes for the UK.
What you'll be doing
- You'll provide technical direction and leadership within the Oracle Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) Data Platform team, shaping high-quality data products and services.
- Setting and driving the EPM data strategy and roadmap, including governance and best practice.
- Leading delivery of data integrations and data flows across Oracle EPM and connected systems (e.g., ERP/HCM, data warehouses, analytics platforms).
- Ensuring data services support planning, forecasting, financial and HR reporting outcomes.
- Improving reliability and performance by automating BAU processes and strengthening data quality end-to-end.
- Working across teams (product, solution/data architects, DBAs) to define standards and enforce patterns across the Oracle EPM landscape.
- Coaching and mentoring others to build capability across the data engineering community.
What we're looking for
- Strong functional + technical experience across Oracle EPM modules (e.g., Planning, EDM, Narrative Reporting, FCCS, PCMCS, ARCS).
- Experience designing and governing EPM integrations (including tools such as EPM Automate, Oracle Data Integration, REST APIs and relevant scripting).
- Confidence leading teams and working in complex environments (including multi-supplier/support models).
- Strong stakeholder skills, able to explain complex technical decisions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience aligning delivery with public sector governance requirements (e.g., data governance policies, spend controls, value for money principles).
- A genuine passion for data, continuous improvement and building high-performing teams.
