About the role

Are you a welcoming and organised administrator passionate about social justice and ready to use your skills to create a safe, supportive space for people seeking safety in Glasgow? Govan Community Project provides a holistic range of support for individuals and families in the asylum and refugee community. We are looking for a reliable, compassionate, and efficient Operational Assistant who can be the welcoming first point of contact for visitors to our Govan office and provide administrative support across our team.

Key responsibilities & requirements

  • Has prior experience in a reception or administrative role
  • Can create a safe and welcoming environment for all office visitors
  • Is confident in their ability to communicate with individuals experiencing language barriers with patience and empathy
  • Is confident in handling telephone enquiries, signposting callers to relevant staff/external services
  • Has excellent organisational and time management skills to manage generic inboxes and support colleagues with administrative tasks
  • Possesses a basic understanding of the challenges faced by members of the asylum and refugee community
  • Feels confident to support volunteer receptionists with onboarding and rota schedules
