Job Purpose
The Managing Director will lead the strategic growth, operations, and financial performance of a premier KBB business in Guernsey. This role requires an accomplished executive to oversee luxury showroom retail, island logistics, subcontractor management, and local regulatory compliance.
Working Hours
35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.
Holidays
20 days paid annual leave, plus UK and local bank holidays.
You will accrue an additional day's holiday for each full calendar year worked, up to a maximum of 25 days.
Probation Period
6 months.
Job Responsibilities:
Strategy & Growth: Drive business expansion, monitor Guernsey property trends, and build relationships with local architects, developers, and designers.
Operations & Logistics: Oversee showroom performance, manage freight shipping timelines to the island, and ensure high-quality project handovers.
Project Delivery: Coordinate local trade subcontractors, including fitters and plumbers, to maintain exceptional installation standards and project schedules.
Financial Control: Hold full profit and loss accountability, manage working capital and client deposits, and maintain strong product margins.
Leadership & Compliance: Lead and develop the showroom team while ensuring compliance with Guernsey corporate, housing, and health and safety regulations.
Candidate Requirements:
Experience: Minimum 10 years' proven experience in a senior leadership role such as Managing Director, General Manager, or Operations Director within KBB retail, interior design, or the construction sector.
Industry Expertise: Strong knowledge of luxury kitchen and bathroom supply chains, product manufacturing, and island logistics.
Commercial Acumen: Proven expertise in profit and loss management, budgeting, margin control, and corporate governance.
Relationship Management: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, contractors, and colleagues.
Qualifications: A business, management, or finance degree is preferred. Experience with KBB design software would be advantageous.
