General Supervisor (Facilities Supervisor)
Location: HMP Winchester, Romsey Rd, Winchester, SO22 5DF
Salary: £ 34,931.68 per annum
Contract: Permanent, full time 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, on-site

We are seeking an experienced and driven Soft Services Team Leader or time-served Facilities Administrator who is ready for their next step to join our team at HMP Winchester, a men\’s prison and young offender institution (YOI) as a General Supervisor.

HMP Winchester runs like a self-contained city, it takes hundreds of people to keep it functioning, and as the Facilities Maintenance Team we are committed and driving the smooth and safe operation, like a heart that pumps blood through the body, everything we do impacts every prisoner, employee, and visitor, and wider to the families and community.

As a General Supervisor you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues who vary from Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, to Cleaners, and Administrators, and others, who are all dedicated to making a positive difference, providing a safe and secure environment for all.
You will be responsible for a team of soft services employees such as Cleaners and Escorts, and manage Sub-Contractor access and induction for temporary works; reporting to the Site Manager alongside the Electrical and Mechanical Supervisor you will work together to maintain compliance, critical works, employee well-being, and above all safety.

We are a Ministry of Justice business and provide critical and time-bound services to HMPPS, and are looking for a General Supervisor with a combination of:
– Previous recognised experience and supervisory skills in the facilities management service
– Experience of managing and monitoring compliance
– Knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements
– Relevant professional qualifications (facilities management / project management)
– Good Health & Safety knowledge.
– Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
