We are seeking a motivated and practically minded Handy Person to join our team as an Escort / Fabric Operative at HMP Leyhill, a busy open, adult, male prison. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem solving and learning new skills. You will become part of a close-knit, supportive team that works Monday to Friday, committed to keeping the prison safe, operational, and running smoothly every single day.
As an Escort / Fabric Operative, you will play an active role in the day-to-day maintenance of the site, working alongside a diverse group of skilled colleagues including electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters, cleaners, engineers and administrators. This role is perfect for someone who brings strong practical ability and enjoys varied, hands-on work, whether that’s using tools, completing basic repairs, or supporting our engineering colleagues. You will gain valuable exposure to a wide range of facilities tasks and specialist environments, developing the confidence and experience that can support future career growth within the maintenance field.

We are looking for an Escort / Fabric Operative with a combination of:
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Practical experience within a building fabric or Hard FM environment

- A Level 2 qualification in English and Maths (desirable)
- First Aid at Work qualification (desirable)
- Experience of a prison environment (desirable)
