Location: HMP Elmley, ME12. Salary: £23,566.64. Contract: Full Time | Permanent | Mon - Thurs 06:00 - 14:00 & Friday 06:00 - 13:00.

We are seeking a dedicated Cleaning Operative to join our team at HMP Elmley, a CATEGORY C & Male prison. HMP Elmley operates as a self-contained town, and the Facilities Maintenance Team is committed to driving smooth and safe operation. Our work impacts every prisoner, employee, visitor, and the wider community.

As a Cleaning Operative, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced colleagues in a shared mission to provide a safe and secure environment for all. Responsibilities
  • Carry out cleaning duties within the prison environment in line with required standards.
  • Support the Facilities Maintenance Team to help maintain a safe and secure operation.
  • Adhere to relevant health and safety requirements and COSHH when handling materials and equipment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across trades (plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, cleaners, and administrators) to maintain a clean and safe environment.
Qualifications
  • Experience of working within a cleaning environment.
  • Knowledge of COSHH.
  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
