About the role
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Carpenter inc Locksmith to join our team at HMP Winchester, a Category B/C & male prison. Join a team that is more than just a group of colleagues – we work Monday to Friday as a supportive and driven family, working together to create a safe and nurturing environment. HMP Winchester runs like a self‑contained city and as the Facilities Maintenance Team we are committed to driving the smooth and safe operation. As a Carpenter inc Locksmith you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues from various trades to help maintain a safe and secure environment.
Qualifications
- Substantiated experience in a similar role
- Be able to display competency in the use and operation of all associated power tools and machinery
- Basic IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements
- Up to date First Aid at Work Qualification
- City & Guilds, National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 in Carpentry or an equivalent qualification or substantial experience
- Good Health & Safety knowledge
- Excellent organisational, time management and people skills
Benefits and Working Conditions
Holidays are 25 days per year plus Bank Holidays. GFSL has been notified by its shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector. Following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
