What We're Looking For
Essential:
- GCSEs or equivalent at grades A to C or 9 to 4 in English and Maths
- Demonstration of practical work or mechanical aptitude
- Skilled in the Microsoft Office suite of applications
- Good organisation skills
This apprenticeship offers an excellent route into mechanical engineering, combining structured learning with valuable hands-on experience in a live operational environment. You will work closely with skilled engineers, supporting the maintenance and repair of critical mechanical, plumbing and heating systems that keep sites safe and operational. Through on the job learning, mentoring and formal training, you will build specialist knowledge, practical skills, and recognised qualifications. This role is ideal for someone looking to earn, learn and develop a meaningful engineering career while contributing to essential public services and real social impact.

Future plans.
GFSL has been notified by its shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
