We are seeking a dedicated Engineer - Mech/Steam/HTHW to join our team at HMP The Mount, a category C & adult/male prison. It takes hundreds of people to keep it functioning, and as the Facilities Maintenance Team we are committed to driving the smooth and safe operation, like a heart that pumps blood through the body. Everything we do impacts every prisoner, employee, visitor, and the wider families and community.

As an Engineer – Mech/Steam/HTHW, you will work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues who vary from plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, to cleaners and administrators, all dedicated to making a positive difference and providing a safe and secure environment for all.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Two years' experience working in a role as a steam boiler operator or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with and ability to work to Water Supply Regulation and Control of Legionella L8 requirements.
  • Familiarity with and ability to work to BG01 – safe operation of boilers.
  • Experience working on commercial or industrial steam, heating and water systems.
  • Plumber qualified to C&G 6035 (Plumbing), C&G 6189 (Plumbing and heating) and NVQ level 3 in Plumbing or equivalent.
  • BOAS accredited boiler operator course or equivalent.
  • Good Health & Safety knowledge.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.
