The Role / Position

The General Manager will be responsible for leading the overall business performance of GoSolar.ie, ensuring the company is positioned to support continued growth while maintaining high standards across customer service, installation delivery, and team performance. Working closely with the Directors, the successful candidate will lead the coordination of day-to-day business activities while helping shape the long-term development of the organisation. The role requires a commercially driven and operationally capable leader with strong experience within the solar, renewable energy or electrical sector. This position will play a key role in strengthening internal structures, improving operational performance, supporting revenue growth and building a scalable organisation capable of supporting future expansion.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Operational Leadership
    • Oversee the day-to-day running of the business across installations, sales operations, logistics, administration and customer support.
    • Ensure installation schedules, staffing resources, and operational capacity are effectively aligned with customer demand and growth targets.
    • Maintain oversight of project delivery to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, on time and to expected quality standards.
    • Improve coordination between office-based departments and field installation teams.
    • Introduce and enhance operational systems, workflows, reporting structures and business processes to improve efficiency and visibility.
    • Ensure compliance with SEAI standards, Safe Electric requirements, ISO procedures and health & safety regulations.
    • Drive operational consistency and continuous improvement across all areas of delivery and service.
  • Commercial & Business Development
    • Support the ongoing growth of the business across residential, commercial and agricultural markets.
    • Identify opportunities to strengthen revenue performance, increase market share and expand routes to market.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, developers, commercial customers and strategic partners.
    • Support the expansion of battery storage, EV charging, and commercial renewable energy solutions.
    • Monitor market developments, competitor activity, and industry trends to support commercial planning and decision-making.
    • Improve sales visibility, pipeline management, and commercial performance reporting.
  • Customer Experience & Service Standards
    • Ensure customers receive a consistent & professional experience throughout the full project life-cycle.
    • Improve communication processes from initial enquiry through installation and aftercare support.
    • Support the development of customer referral and retention initiatives.
    • Maintain a strong focus on quality, responsiveness, and reputation management.
    • Work closely with teams to resolve operational or customer service issues effectively.
  • Financial & Performance Management
    • Support the financial performance of the business through effective operational planning and commercial oversight.
    • Monitor budgets, operational costs, margins, resource planning, and business performance indicators.
    • Improve KPI reporting, performance visibility, and management information across departments.
    • Assist the Directors with forecasting, growth planning, and operational investment decisions.
    • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability, and cost control throughout the business.
  • Team Leadership & Organisational Development
    • Provide leadership and direction across office, sales, operational, and installation teams.
    • Develop clear reporting lines, accountability structures and role responsibilities throughout the organisation.
    • Support recruitment, on-boarding, retention and development of employees as the company continues to grow.
    • Build a positive, collaborative, and performance-focused culture across the business.
    • Encourage strong communication, teamwork, and accountability between departments.
    • Support employee development through mentoring, coaching, and training initiatives.
    • Act as a visible and approachable leader across all areas of the organisation.
  • Strategic Growth & Continuous Improvement
    • Support the long-term strategic development and scaling of the business.
    • Assist in strengthening systems, management structures and operational processes to support future growth.
    • Evaluate opportunities for business improvement, service expansion, and operational enhancement.
    • Drive initiatives focused on efficiency, scalability, customer experience, and overall business performance.
    • Contribute to the ongoing development of GoSolar.ie within Ireland’s renewable energy sector.

Candidate Background

The successful candidate will bring strong operational leadership capability combined with commercial awareness and sector experience. Applicants should demonstrate:
