This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to work with a small group of Key Stage 3 students, helping them to successfully re‑engage with learning, build emotional literacy, develop routines, and develop the foundational knowledge they need to thrive as they transition into mainstream secondary education. Please note this is a full/part time role, and you will be paid all year round as per STPCD (School Teacher’s Pay and Conditions Document).

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver a primary‑style curriculum tailored to the developmental, academic and emotional needs of secondary‑aged students
  • Teach literacy and numeracy, including the use of phonics and structured numeracy techniques, to strengthen students’ foundational knowledge and confidence
  • Support students to close gaps in early reading, writing and mathematical understanding that act as barriers to wider learning
  • Create a safe, calm and consistent learning environment grounded in nurture principles

  • Understand the importance of rebuilding foundational knowledge for older students who have experienced disrupted learning
  • Have a sound understanding of attachment‑aware and trauma‑informed practice
  • Be passionate about inclusion and believe in building success through relationships
  • Be flexible, reflective and resilient, with high expectations and a warm, consistent approach
  • Experience of working with students with SEND, SEMH needs, or who are at risk of disengagement would be particularly advantageous.

Benefits

  • A competitive salary – as an accredited Living Wage Employer, you’re guaranteed a wage that meets, and often exceeds, the real cost of living.

  • Benefits including excellent pension scheme, cycle‑to‑work scheme, free on‑site parking
