We are seeking a Pastoral Mentor to join our pastoral support staff team at Great Park Academy. You will work closely with our other Pastoral Mentors to provide pastoral support to students in our school. This will include mentoring and supporting individual students, managing student behaviour, meeting with parents and assisting students in line with the school’s policies and procedures. The post requires you to be part of the school’s safeguarding team, working with the DSL and Deputy DSL, and therefore this will sometimes require you to respond to sensitive and challenging situations.

What We Are Looking For

First and foremost, we are looking for someone who is passionate about working with young people and is a creative, ‘hands on’ colleague. As one of the main contacts for pastoral support to students in the school, you will be empathetic and practical in equal measure, as well as being able to be sensitive when required, yet firm when needing to challenge student behaviour. Ideally you will have experience working within a school environment or experience of working with young people in another context. Primarily your role will be day to day pastoral support for our students, however the role will also occasionally involve some general lesson cover requiring you to supervise classes during the absence of the class teacher, as well as supporting students in isolation/internal exclusion.

What We Can Offer You

  • A competitive salary - as an accredited Living Wage Employer, you’re guaranteed a wage that meets, and often exceeds, the real cost of living.
  • Benefits including; excellent pension scheme, cycle to work scheme, free on-site parking.
  • An opportunity to work with highly-skilled professionals.
  • Enthusiastic and motivated students.
  • An exciting and extensive commitment to professional development.
  • A school with its community at heart.
  • An exciting programme of staff wellbeing activities.
  • Wider career development opportunities to be involved across Gosforth Group.
