This school has Academy status and is part of The Gosforth Group; the employer will be the Multi Academy Trust. Callerton Academy is a new secondary school that opened in September 2021 as one of two new schools within Gosforth Group. Currently, we are based in a state-of-the-art building in Newcastle’s Grainger Town with great links to metro and bus transport, until we move into our new school building located in Westerhope, which opens to students in September 2025, serving around 1,200 students from Year 7 to Year 11. We are excited to offer the position of MCR Pathways Programme Coordinator at Callerton Academy, in conjunction with our charity partner MCR Pathways. We are an award-winning charity dedicated to ensuring the country’s most vulnerable young people are defined by their talent and never their circumstances. In each of our partner schools, we have a MCR Pathways Programme Coordinator who works with staff and young people to facilitate the delivery of our mentoring programme. Our in-school mentoring has profound impacts on mentees in their confidence, wellbeing and post-school progression. MCR Mentors make and experience a life-changing difference and our Pathways Coordinators make this possible.

At MCR Pathways, our driving force is simple – that young people who are in, or on the edges of the care system, will have the same educational outcomes, career opportunities and life chances as any other young person. We have had a transformational impact in schools and local authorities across Scotland and the South East of England, and are delighted to now be expanding our programme into the North East and are looking for a MCR Pathways Programme Coordinator based at Callerton Academy in Newcastle. In this role, you will be an integral part of the school community, liaising with education colleagues and external stakeholders, and delivering the programme to young people.

WE NEED SOMEONE WHO CAN:

  • Help build exceptional individual relationships with young people across Y7 to Y11 and deliver Y7 & Y8 group work to full year curriculum.
  • Help drive mentor recruitment.
  • Consistently support, actively engage and motivate mentors from training through the length of their engagement with the programme.
  • Actively support MCR young people to identify their talent; build their self-confidence; develop their aspiration and fulfil their potential.
  • Collate evidence of young people’s progression quantitative data and qualitative evidence such as young people’s voice and case studies.
