Gosforth Academy has a strong and robust working partnership with Newcastle Red Bulls Academy and has delivered the ACE Programme for over 15 years. The ACE Programme provides talented young rugby players with an opportunity to enhance their rugby development whilst continuing in further education. Based at Gosforth Academy in Newcastle, players that are invited onto the scheme will complete a formal education. Rugby is built into their timetable alongside their chosen A Level or vocational courses. The programme is supported and endorsed by the Newcastle Red Bulls Academy and has a highly competitive playing programme against other academy-endorsed ACE institutions in the ACE League.
We are seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and enthusiastic individual to work with the Gosforth Academy Sixth Form team and Newcastle Red Bulls Academy in the above post. The role involves:
- Delivery of the ACE Programme, the Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) and the Higher Sports Leaders award (or equivalent).
- Overseeing all rugby provision for Gosforth Academy to enhance the game.
- Contributing to the further development of community sport in the region.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Appropriate professional qualifications including RFU Level 3 Coaching Award or working towards this.
- The flexibility to work unsociable hours (including evenings and weekends) and be able to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience working in a school sporting environment and/or experience working on a sporting development pathway, with a good understanding of coaching process, athlete mentoring and programme management.
