We are seeking a Data Protection Support Officer to support our client for 3-4 weeks Hybrid at £16.71-£17.48 per hour, depending on experience, based in the West End.

What will you be doing?

  • The postholder will support the management of allocated Subject Access Requests from receipt to response, helping to ensure compliance with statutory timescales and escalating complex data protection issues as required.
  • Key responsibilities include liaising with colleagues to gather information, reviewing results in Microsoft eDiscovery, applying exemptions and redactions, and maintaining accurate case records.
  • Provide short-term operational support to the Records and Information Governance team in handling allocated Subject Access Requests in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Support the management of allocated Subject Access Requests from receipt to response within statutory timescales, escalating complex issues as required.
  • Liaise with colleagues across the organisation to identify, retrieve, and collate information for disclosure.
  • Log requests, update SAR trackers, monitor deadlines and maintain clear case notes.
  • Apply relevant exemptions and carry out redactions in line with Data Protection legislation and internal guidance.
  • Prepare disclosure material, supporting schedules and response documentation for review and approval.
  • Maintain accurate records of requests, decisions, and correspondence to support transparency and audit requirements.

About You

  • Experience supporting or managing Subject Access Requests.
  • Working knowledge of UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the practical handling of personal data.
  • Experience reviewing, organising and redacting records containing personal data.
  • Confidence using Microsoft 365, Microsoft eDiscovery or similar search and review tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, discretion, judgement and ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a short-term role.
