We are seeking an experienced Senior Verification and Test Engineer – Electrical Systems to play a critical role in the development, integration and validation of our vehicle electrical and electronic systems. Working closely with Systems Engineering, Vehicle Development and our Tier 1 partners, you will ensure that hardware, software and features perform exactly as intended, from first concept through to production and beyond.
The role
You will take ownership of verification and test activities across vehicle electrical systems, ensuring robust validation, clear reporting and disciplined defect management. Acting as both a technical authority and a delivery-focused engineer, you’ll help drive programme maturity while maintaining uncompromising quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and management of design verification and integration test plans for electrical components and their associated software.
- Support testing and validation of new hardware and software releases in line with vehicle timing and development plans.
- Define and document testing strategies, including identifying required test assets such as rigs, chambers, lab-cars and test vehicles.
- Deliver test and validation activities ranging from single ECU functions to complex, safety-critical distributed systems.
- Own compliance with formal testing, defect logging and reporting processes, ensuring issues are tracked through to resolution.
- Produce clear, structured test reports to keep stakeholders informed on progress, risks and quality metrics.
- Provide technical oversight of electronics test and validation activities delivered by Tier 1 suppliers and technical partners.
- Track feature and function maturity, coordinating multi-party activities to ensure aligned and effective validation programmes.
- Support the management of technical deliverables including Feature Implementation Plans, software timing plans, issue trackers and signals databases.
- Represent the Verification & Test function in system reviews, FMEAs, DVP planning, ISO 26262 functional safety activities and wider V&V forums.
- Support Manufacturing and Service teams through training, diagnostic development and service procedure input.
About You
You’re an experienced verification and test engineer with a deep understanding of automotive electrical systems and software-driven architectures. You’re methodical, technically confident and comfortable taking ownership of complex validation programmes. You thrive in collaborative environments, can challenge constructively, and bring clarity to technically complex discussions.
- Significant experience in vehicle, system or sub-system test and validation within an automotive environment.
- Strong understanding of electrical architectures, vehicle networks and diagnostic technologies.
- Extensive experience with software architectures, validation strategies and development environments.
- Working knowledge of CAN, FlexRay, LIN, Automotive Ethernet and vehicle diagnostics.
- Experience using issue tracking systems such as JIRA or Mantis.
- Experience working with Tier 1 suppliers, including project documentation, reporting and delivery oversight.
- Familiarity with APQP, FMEA, DVP, PPAP and full product lifecycle delivery frameworks.
- Degree-qualified in Electronics, Control Systems, Software Engineering, Automotive Engineering or similar (or equivalent experience).
- Self-motivated, articulate and comfortable working independently.
- Full UK driving licence with no restrictions on UK or EU travel.
