  • Description

The MP&L Analyst role is responsible for supporting Materials, Planning and Logistics activity through accurate data analysis, reporting and control of material status, stock accuracy, delivery performance and production readiness.

Supporting the MP&L team by turning ERP, MRP, inventory and logistics data into clear actions, risks, reports and recommendations to help avoid production disruption and improve operational control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all vendors have sufficient order coverage, and work with the supply base to ensure the continued flow of material to support the Production Plan.
  • Maintain and analyse material, inventory, supplier delivery and logistics data across ERP, MRP, Excel and other business systems.
  • Produce accurate MP&L reports covering stock accuracy, shortages, delivery status, inventory levels, order status, supplier performance and material availability.
  • Support production readiness by identifying material risks, shortages, data gaps and supply constraints ahead of build.
  • Monitor stock levels, delivery dates, open orders and material availability to support vehicle production.
  • Investigate stock discrepancies, data errors, delivery issues and material shortages, identifying root cause and corrective actions.
  • Support perpetual inventory and cycle count activity by analysing variances and ensuring system records are corrected.
  • Work with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Logistics, Stores and Programme teams to provide accurate material status and escalation data.
  • Support new model and project activity by maintaining material readiness trackers, open issue lists and parts status reports.
  • Maintain accurate records for KPI reporting, planning reviews and operational decision-making.
  • Analyse MP&L performance data and highlight trends, risks, gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Support improvements to stock control, material flow, goods receipt, dispatch, planning and reporting processes.
  • Provide clear recommendations to improve material availability, inventory accuracy, planning discipline and operational efficiency.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Experience in a manufacturing, automotive, engineering, logistics, planning or material control environment.
  • Experience using ERP and/or MRP systems.
  • Strong Excel skills and ability to analyse, interpret and present operational data.
  • Good understanding of inventory control, stock accuracy, material availability and production support.
  • Able to investigate discrepancies, identify root cause and recommend corrective actions.
  • Strong attention to detail and disciplined approach to data accuracy.
  • Able to work cross-functionally with Purchasing, Manufacturing, Logistics and Programme teams.
  • Clear communicator, able to turn data into simple actions, risks and recommendations.

Desirable

  • Experience in low-volume automotive manufacturing.
  • Experience with cycle counting, perpetual inventory or stock accuracy improvement.
  • Understanding of BOMs, supplier schedules, production planning and material flow.
  • Experience with Power BI or other reporting tools.
  • Lean / continuous improvement awareness.
