At Gordon Murray Group, every performance car is the result of uncompromising engineering and equally uncompromising quality. Our standards don’t stop at the factory door; they run throughout our global supply chain.

We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to play a critical role across the full product lifecycle, from early concept through to production and service life. Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers, you will ensure components are developed, approved, and delivered to the quality level expected of a world-class performance vehicle. This is more than supplier monitoring; it’s partnership, technical leadership, and continuous improvement.

The Role

  • You will act as the quality authority for supplied components, supporting supplier development, driving approvals, and ensuring robust processes are in place before parts ever reach a vehicle.
  • You’ll spend time both onsite and with suppliers, proactively preventing issues rather than reacting to them.
  • Lead supplier quality activities from concept to production and service life.
  • Work with suppliers on manufacturability and delivery to cost, quality, and timing targets.
  • Define and manage critical and significant characteristics within supplier processes.
  • Support and approve PPAP and review FAIR documentation prior to shipment.
  • Develop and manage Part Quality Plans (PQP) alongside engineering teams.
  • Conduct supplier audits and capability assessments to ISO9001 / IATF16949 standards.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions using 8D and SCAR methodologies.
  • Support and sign-off engineering change management activities.
  • Monitor and report supplier KPIs including PPM performance.
  • Ensure supplier concerns are resolved in agreed timescales to maintain build.
  • Act as the on-site quality presence at suppliers when required.

About You

  • You are a proactive quality professional who thrives working directly with suppliers and engineers to solve problems before they reach production.
  • You combine technical understanding with strong communication skills and are comfortable challenging processes to achieve the right outcome.
  • External auditor experience (ISO9001 / IATF16949 or equivalent).
  • Experience within engineering or technology industries.
  • APQP or similar quality integration in new product introduction.
  • Lean Six Sigma mindset (Green Belt or equivalent understanding preferred).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Understanding of metrology techniques and equipment.
  • Clear communicator, organised, and self-directing.
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally internationally.
  • Collaborative team player with a continuous improvement mindset.

Desirable

  • Experience operating as a stand-alone SQE.
  • Advanced Excel or data analysis capability (Python beneficial).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes in structures, body, composites, or finishing.
  • Exposure to automotive, aerospace, or high-performance technology sectors.

Why this role matters

The quality of every Gordon Murray vehicle depends on the integrity of every supplied component. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and manufacturing, preventing issues before they exist and ensuring every part meets our standards before it reaches a car. If you enjoy solving real engineering problems with real impact and want to help shape a supply chain worthy of a world-class performance brand, we want to hear from you.

Benefits

  • Competitive Base Salary
  • Private Medical Scheme
  • Life Assurance
  • Holiday Loyalty Bonus Scheme
  • Enhanced Personal Pension Plan
  • Enhanced Maternity & Paternity Pay
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Salary Sacrifice Car Lease Scheme
