Role Overview

Position

DT Food Technician (part‑time, term‑time only)

Location

Gordano School, Portishead (within the Lighthouse Schools Partnership)

This role supports the school’s Design & Technology faculty.

The successful applicant will work in a team environment, developing both practical and creative skills in Food Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare equipment and materials for Food Technology lessons as requested by teaching staff.
  • Maintain records of supplies, equipment, and safety checks.
  • Keep up‑to‑date knowledge of health and safety regulations and implement them in the classroom.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high‑quality, engaging learning experiences for students.
  • Participate in safeguarding training and apply the school’s safeguarding protocols in daily work.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant experience in food‑related tasks or Food Technology.
  • Demonstrated commitment, creativity, and an innovative approach to teaching and support.
  • Willingness to work in a team with young people and take on challenges and projects.
  • Understand and respect safeguarding responsibilities applicable to all adults in schools.
  • Additional Information

All appointments will be subject to vetting, including an enhanced DBS check. The role is suitable for adults who are able to work with children and young people.
