Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a cook. This role is essential in ensuring the preparation and presentation of high-quality meals, adhering to food safety standards, and providing an enjoyable dining experience for our children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare daily meals (e.g., breakfast, lunch, and snacks) for children aged 0-5 years, following a set menu or creating your own within guidelines.
- Ensure all meals meet nutritional standards and cater to allergies, intolerances, and cultural/religious preferences.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen at all times.
- Order, receive, and manage stock of food supplies in line with budget and food safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of food temperatures, deliveries, stock rotation, and cleaning schedules.
- Ensure compliance with Food Hygiene and Health & Safety regulations.
- Work alongside nursery staff to promote healthy eating habits among children.
- Attend training as required (e.g., Food Hygiene Level 2, Allergen Awareness).
- Follow all safeguarding and confidentiality policies within the nursery setting.
- Support staff across the setting
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment or restaurant setting is preferred but not desirable.
- Strong culinary skills with knowledge of food preparation techniques.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and practices is essential.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in meal presentation.
