Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs. The Digital Buildings team is part of the Technical Infrastructure team in Google’s Real Estate and Workplace Services (REWS) organization. The team is responsible for the strategy behind the systems in our workplace buildings including IoT and digital building infrastructure. The team is the leader and a major contributor to the Building Operating System (BOS) program, Google's smart buildings platform for its real estate portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct large complex strategic programs which may include any aspect of IoT (control systems, cyber security, data science, business use cases, solutions, optimization, sustainability).
  • Co‑own the architecture, processes, charters and standards for IoT and control systems, including functionality and cyber security. Implement them in new construction and existing buildings deployment programs.
  • Direct the technical and commercial strategy of the programs including establishing technical criteria, developing the procurement approach, vendor management, risk mitigation, resolving escalations, and delivery of the projects.
  • Develop targets for the new construction and existing buildings programs in your region, track progress, and take corrective action.
  • Establish working relationships with executives, stakeholders and external partners to set expectations, maintain alignment, and give progress updates for the deployment programs. This may include presenting at internal and external conferences and preparing white papers.
