As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you will leverage your technical expertise to lead complex, multi‑disciplinary projects from inception to completion. You will collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements, identify potential risks, manage timelines, and effectively communicate with cross‑functional partners throughout the organization.
Your responsibilities will include overseeing a large site‑wide data center construction and delivery organization, ensuring the development of detailed designs, and managing all aspects of construction, including delivery, cost, quality, and environmental health and safety (EHS). You will also lead the commissioning process, project closeout, and handover to the operations team, ensuring that all customer requirements are met.
In this role, you will establish and maintain various delivery models and build global relationships with multiple vendors. You will be involved in creating a growth plan and participating in the hiring and recruitment of talent in areas such as project management, field engineering, document control, and technical writing. Additionally, you will research and implement effective construction methods for data center equipment and facilities, translating design concepts into mass production and integrating them into operational facilities.
To qualify for this position, you should possess a Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial, construction engineering, construction management, or a related technical field, or have equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction program management is required, along with proven experience in managing commercial agreements and procurement processes. Familiarity with data center program management and technology is essential.
Preferred qualifications include at least 5 years of experience managing cross‑functional or cross‑team projects, experience in managing vendor relationships, and knowledge of standard practices in the design and construction industry. You should also have familiarity with data center equipment and environments, including switchgear, generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, controls, security monitoring systems, and fire safety systems, as well as an understanding of startup and commissioning processes.
