The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems in the world. Facility Technicians at Google data centers operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions.

Some duties will include:

  • Heating and cooling of air and water
  • Power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution and control and monitoring systems
  • Inspecting, maintaining and repairing various data center systems such as piping and non-critical electrical or mechanical system components
  • Providing daily assistance to senior technicians as you read blueprints/schematics, conduct tours of systems and assess their working order
  • Developing creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency
  • Ensuring that environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems and making repairs quickly
  • Managing data center performance issues and outages to minimize the recovery time from failures

As a part of the Technical Operations Manager within Third-Party Data Center Operations EMEA, your mission is to ensure the highest levels of digital operational resilience, safety, and regulatory compliance across all third-party data center partnerships. You will lead comprehensive audit programs and foster cross-functional excellence with local metro Target Operating Model (TOM), Corrective Action Plan (CAP) and Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) teams.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 9 years of experience in technical compliance, facility management, or operations for data centers and mission-critical facilities
  • Experience with critical data center infrastructure, specifically power distribution, cooling systems, and safety protocols
  • Experience leading and fronting both internal and external compliance audits for technical facilities
  • Ability to travel up to 50% across the EMEA region to conduct site visits and audits

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience validating and executing Integrated Operational Readiness Drills (iORD) and emergency response simulations
  • Experience reviewing and verifying technical maintenance logs and documentation from third-party service providers to ensure Service Level Agreement (SLA) adherence
  • Familiarity with emerging European regulations and international operational standards relevant to data center compliance
  • Ability to develop comprehensive audit plans and use analytical dashboards to communicate risk tiers to executive management
  • Demonstrated ability to drive operational resilience, identify deficiencies in infrastructure failover, and maintain peak performance across third-party facility partnerships

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary Third-Party Data Center Operations (3PDCOPs) representative for all CAP audits, coordinating with local managers to demonstrate site operational resilience
  • Develop audit plans and verify service provider evidence, like maintenance logs, to ensure critical infrastructure is properly serviced
  • Partner with the CAP team to address deficiencies, applying risk-based tools to prioritize issues, set remediation deadlines, and ensure compliance
  • Track drill outcomes and simulations (e.g., ORD/iORD) to document improvements and ensure resilience exercises are executed to standard
  • Deliver detailed reports and use analytic dashboards to communicate audit trends, site performance, and overall EMEA compliance posture to leadership
