This is an exceptionally exciting time to join the team: with governments across the UK and Europe accelerating their national AI strategies, and Google Deep Mind having recently launched its landmark "National Partnerships for AI" initiative across five pillars including advancing security and resilience the role sits at the very centre of some of the most consequential policy conversations shaping the future of AI and democratic security.
In this role, you will provide maternity cover for an executive role leading Google Deep Mind's UK and European national security strategy, engagement, and partnerships.
You will serve as the primary GDM liaison with national security, defence, intelligence, and policy bodies across the UK, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Five Eyes, Germany, and France maintaining and deepening critical relationships at a pivotal moment for AI governance and security.

Responsibilities
- Develop and execute Google Deep Mind’s (GDM) national security strategy across the UK and Europe, ensuring alignment with responsible AI commitments and policy objectives.
- Act as the primary liaison to national security, defence, and intelligence bodies (UK, NATO, Five Eyes, etc.), cultivating trusted, senior‑level relationships.
- Represent GDM’s technical expertise in cyber and biosecurity agendas, driving proactive engagement with government departments to shape AI safety and security standards.
- Monitor the evolving policy landscape in the UK and Europe, providing actionable advice to leadership on emerging risks and geopolitical opportunities.
- Partner closely with internal Security, Legal, and Public Policy teams to ensure a unified, coherent approach to global external engagement.
