We are seeking a proactive, detailâoriented Executive Business Partner to support our VP for Science and Strategic Initiatives. You'll manage their complex schedule, build strong relationships, anticipate needs, and ensure seamless execution of key tasks. Google DeepMind's The Science & Strategic Initiatives team is working on scientific breakthroughs that help scientists tackle some of the world's most pressing challenges. The team's portfolio includes projects across the sciences, including biology, chemistry, maths and computer science. It also includes strategic initiatives in areas such as AI transparency.
The Role
We are seeking an exceptionally capable Executive Business Partner to work with our VP for Science and Strategic Initiatives. Paramount to this role will be ensuring their time is optimised and they can lead effectively within Google DeepMind. You'll work closely with partners to ensure seamless coordination and execution of their strategic focus areas.
Key responsibilities:
- Strategically manage the VP's time to ensure alignment with top business priorities, minimising conflicts to optimise leadership effectiveness and ensuring that travel is highly efficient.
- Build and maintain a trusted working relationship with the lead, alongside building effective relationships with their team and key stakeholders.
- Act as the "gateway" and point of contact, to help maintain strong connections with other executives, leaders and the wider team, fostering collaboration with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups.
- Leading on operational tasks and processes; driving continuous improvement to increase efficiencies.
- Partner with the VP to drive strategic initiatives, tracking deliverables and holding stakeholders accountable to ensure project success.
- Orchestrate executive meetings by ensuring strategic agendas, facilitating decisionâmaking, and driving followâthrough on key action items.
- Develop a strong working relationship with the leader: thinking ahead, handling priorities, anticipating needs and future challenges, proposing solutions to enable effective decisionâmaking.
- Draft and send out team communications.
- Organise and execute internal and external events for business and team events e.g. offâsites, lunches, talks, seminars, visitors.
- Arrange domestic and international travel for meetings, international office visits and speaking engagements e.g. hotel reservations, flight checkâin, visas, detailed travel itineraries and overseas transport.
- Act as a point of contact, dealing with incoming requests, requiring heavy email correspondence.
- Drive continuous improvement by advising on new ways of working and leveraging AI tools to increase organisational impact.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to the wider Administrative Business Partner (ABP) community, fostering a culture of collaboration and best practices.
About You
You are a resilient EBP, with experience working in a fastâpaced environment. You are energetic, enthusiastic and have a keen interest to continue to develop your career in supporting and enabling others. You will have extensive experience working in an executive assistant role supporting senior executives and are passionate about supporting and enabling others, motivated by Leader support.
You are a self starter, highly organised & proactive with a proven track record in diary management, juggling multiple tasks, prioritising effectively and with impeccable attention to detail.
You adapt quickly to change and thrive under pressure. You are comfortable with ambiguity and you anticipate problems with care. By exercising good judgement and discretion, you are able to determine appropriate next steps and problem solve.
You instinctively act with total discretion and diplomacy and remain calm even in stressful situations. You are resultsâdriven and action oriented, able to with both pace and accuracy, taking initiative to deliver exceptional outcomes.

Experience with Google Suite is preferable but not crucial. Ability and curiosity to use AI tools practically and effectively in your work, with a recognition and awareness of AI's responsible use, risks, and limitations.
