The predicted salary is between 1500 - 2000 £ per month.

This position is full-time, seasonal from late May to end of August 2026. The Wildlife Centre Attendant will work alongside the animal attendant(s) and interpreter(s) on tasks related to the ongoing care and welfare of our permanent animal residents.

The attendant's tasks and responsibilities may include:

  • Preparing and delivering diets
  • Observing animal behaviours
  • Participating in training for welfare
  • Undertaking regular cleaning/maintenance of enclosures and the centre's grounds
  • Washing dishes, doing laundry and other related tasks as they arise

The animal attendant will also assist with the delivery of on and off-site education programs which includes handling non-releasable animal residents in a safe and comfortable manner and ensuring the safety and well-being of both the animals and public at all times.

In addition to the above, all staff will aid in local wildlife rescue efforts by:

  • Answering calls regarding wildlife in distress
  • Providing advice and assistance
  • Participating in the safe capture, triage and transport of animals to licensed wildlife rehabilitation centres

Staff will be provided all necessary training and information regarding tasks, rescue efforts and/or program delivery but will be responsible for managing their time with respect to task completion.

This position may be offered by Canada Summer Jobs and as such, summer candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

Speaking of Wildlife is located in the Township of Severn (no public transit), near Orillia, Ontario. This centre is where our wildlife ambassadors reside and is our home-base. Every work day will start and end at the centre but our outreach programs could take us anywhere throughout the province in the hours between (company van). As such, a valid G license and driver's abstract are required.
