Responsible for supporting, planning, organizing, and assisting the VP for Career Development with the implementation of Goodwill’s BookWorks program, focusing on day-to-day administrative needs and operations supporting established and future BookWorks services.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates volunteer activities directly for the BookWorks program in the BookWorks service area.
  • Ensures that the respective book rooms are operational and have sufficient inventory of books to expeditiously respond to the needs of the program.
  • Provides screening, communication, intake, orientation, training, scheduling, record keeping, and tracking of volunteers in the BookWorks service area.
  • Works collaboratively, as directed, with Fund Development to develop, create and schedule volunteer events and activities in the regional BookWorks service area with the intent of gaining support through education and relationship building.
  • Maximises the use of social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. to reach volunteers through the online community.
  • Updates the volunteer database and keeps track of individual volunteer activities and events in the regional BookWorks service area.
  • Ensures that volunteers’ requests for books and supplies for the regional BookWorks service area are met and coordinates delivery and/or pick-up.
  • Consistently coordinates with the Clearwater book room for inventory and supply reporting.
  • Tracks Goodwill’s internal and external volunteer strategies and provides data to help maintain a monthly reporting mechanism that reports relevant information in regard to programmatic growth objectives for the BookWorks service area.
  • Helps to develop and implement a plan to grow the scope and reach of BookWorks to meet identified community needs in the regional BookWorks service area and responds to the identification of available resources.
  • Serves as an example to employees, consumers, and volunteers in matters of appearance, attitude, and performance in a manner best serving Goodwill Industries‑Suncoast, Inc.
  • Coordinates to ensure the activities of BookWorks align with the outlined policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates to ensure consistency and seamless services.
  • Coordinates the development, launch, and ongoing success of volunteer engagement.
  • Actively recruits volunteers for BookWorks, including readers, book distributors, and book room.
  • Gives presentations and serves as a facilitator of workshops.
  • Ensures that all required volunteer documentation and program activities are coordinated to ensure sensitivity to and compliance with confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Arts/Science degree or a combination of experience in public relations and/or two years of recent local experience in recruiting, assigning, and supervising volunteers; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • A minimum of three to five years of experience with human services/education or instructing/counseling and/or working with literacy programs is preferred.
  • Subject to alcohol and drug testing.
  • Subject to criminal history background checks.
