Working with the VP Finance, you will be the go‑to commercial finance partner for the Founder‑CEO, COO and leadership team, building the FP&A function from scratch and owning everything from the financial model to analysing business line performance to transaction support. This role sits at the intersection of finance, strategy and commercial operations – it is not a back‑office role. If you want to understand every part of the business, influence decisions at the highest level, and help build a finance function that is ready for a transaction, this is the job.
Your mission will be to:
- FP&A & Financial Planning
- Build and maintain the company’s financial model, revenue, cost, headcount and cash, with scenario and sensitivity analysis.
- Own the annual budget and rolling forecast process, working with all business functions to set and track targets.
- Produce monthly budget vs actuals variance analysis with clear commentary and insight for the leadership team and board.
- Develop business line P&Ls to give the business visibility into how each product and segment is performing.
- Build and own the investor‑ready financial narrative and supporting materials for fundraising and M&A processes.
- Commercial Finance & Business Partnering
- Act as the primary commercial finance partner to the VP Finance and leadership team – turning around ad hoc analysis, modelling and commercial sense‑checks quickly and independently.
- Support pricing decisions, unit economics analysis, COGS deep‑dives and margin improvement initiatives.
- Partner with the GTM team on pipeline‑to‑revenue reporting, cohort analysis and commercial deal structuring.
- Evaluate new commercial opportunities, partnerships and market expansion scenarios with financial rigour.
- Reporting & Insights
- Produce high‑quality board and investor reporting packs that are clear, well‑structured and insight‑driven.
- Develop dashboards and automated reporting to give the business real‑time visibility into financial performance.
- Own the weekly financial reporting cadence for internal leadership.
Skills & Qualifications
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
- 5+ years in FP&A, commercial finance, strategic finance or top‑tier strategy consulting, ideally with a mix of scale‑up and established business experience.
- Proven track record of building financial models from scratch, comfortable with multi‑entity, multi‑currency models.
- Experience in a commercially facing role – you have worked directly with C‑level operators, founders or senior leadership and are used to being the go‑to person for financial answers.
- Experience supporting a fundraise, M&A process or investor reporting is a strong advantage.
- Background in SaaS, marketplace, fintech or tech‑enabled services preferred; you understand recurring revenue models, unit economics and B2B commercial dynamics.
- Exceptional financial modelling – you build clean, dynamic, assumption‑driven models that others can use and trust.
- Strong commercial instinct – you don’t just describe numbers, you interpret them and come up with a view.
- Excellent communication – you can present complex financial analysis clearly to a non‑finance audience.
- High attention to detail with a bar‑raiser mentality; your outputs are always polished, structured and go beyond the literal ask.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to operate independently in a lean team without heavy process or oversight.
- Proficient in Excel or Google Sheets; experience with Xero, HubSpot, Fathom or similar tools is a plus.
Mindset
- Think like a business partner, not a reporter; your instinct is to add insight, not just present data.
- Proactive and solution‑oriented, you surface problems with a recommended path forward, not just a description of the issue.
- Comfortable in a fast‑moving environment where priorities shift and the answers aren’t always obvious.
- You care about quality; everything you send is sense‑checked, well‑presented and reflects well on you and the team.
- Excited by the mission – Goodstack is building infrastructure for global charitable giving and you want to be part of that.
