Join us as a Financial Controller to help scale processes, unlock insights, and keep us financially sharp! As a key member of our team, you will be instrumental in setting up new processes, policies, software, and reporting structures to ensure the business is running efficiently, compliantly, and smoothly. This role involves maintaining high standards in accounting, audit, and financial reporting, overseeing external accounting and tax firms across multiple jurisdictions, and ensuring compliance with diverse accounting standards.
As a Financial Controller at Goodstack, your mission will be to:
- Fuel Goodstack's success as we strive to make a lasting impact and transform nonprofits with cutting-edge technology solutions.
- Manage all day-to-day finance and accounting operations (payroll, treasury, debtors, payables, revenue recognition, managing cash flow).
- Deliver impactful reporting, with the provision of monthly management accounts, including review of all journal entries and analysis of forecast variances.
- Provide operational finance support as needed across budgeting, cash flow, and reporting for internal use and external fundraising.
- Overseeing and reviewing the work of outsourced bookkeepers to ensure accuracy and compliance, while also supporting and maintaining a steady workflow pipeline for them.
- Help design, implement, and optimise financial operation processes, systems, and controls to support the growth of the business and ensure compliance is adhered to.
- Handle all statutory reporting, payroll, VAT, and R&D tax credits.
- Manage our Intercompany, International Tax, and Audit requirements.
- Manage Bi-annual share options grants and general company secretarial matters, including cap table management.
- Support the VP of Finance with the delivery of key ad hoc finance projects.
This role is a perfect match for you if you have/are:
- Full qualification as an accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with 5+ years of post-qualification experience in a senior accounting position.
- Demonstrable experience in a senior finance role, must be from a start-up or scale-up recently.
- Comfortable rolling up your sleeves and working independently.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to deliver in a fast-moving environment.
- Excellent communicator with great organisational skills; you'll be able to communicate complex financial information to non-finance colleagues confidently and in an accessible way.
- A collaborative mindset and enjoy working with teams like Product and Engineering to design, build, and improve processes.
- Hands-on experience with Xero, Google Sheets, Payhawk, and Hubspot (preferable).
Bonus if you have knowledge or love of:
- Xero experience.
- An audit background.
