The Opportunity
A leading environmental and resource recovery organisation is looking for an experienced
Field Service Engineer to provide temporary cover for a three-month period.
You will travel to customer sites throughout the UK to service wash pads and inspect fuel tanks and interceptors.
This is a hands‑on field‑based position involving planned servicing, cleaning, inspection, fault‑finding and reactive maintenance. You will work largely independently, manage your own workload and liaise directly with customers on site.
Overnight stays will be required.

Typical working hours around 6:00am-4:00pm/5:00pm depending on customer site
Knottingley base with UK‑wide travel
Overnight stays required
£16.00 per hour
Full UK driving licence required
Recognised OFTEC qualification required
FLT licence advantageous
Current DBS advantageous
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to customer sites throughout the UK
- Service and maintain wash pads
- Inspect fuel tanks and interceptors
- Remove and replace filters
- Clean and inspect system components
- Clean wash pads and cut back overgrown grass and weeds
- Troubleshoot faulty pumps and compressors
- Replace pumps, compressors and other components where required
- Complete planned and reactive repairs and maintenance
- Use hand tools and relevant equipment safely
- Manage your own workload, travel and daily schedule
- Liaise directly with customers while on site
- Complete job records and supporting documentation
- Follow method statements and safe working procedures
- Report faults, spillages, incidents and near misses
- Maintain professional standards when representing the organisation
What We're Looking For
- Recognised OFTEC qualification
- Full valid UK driving licence
- Practical maintenance experience
- Experience using hand tools
- Fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to travel throughout the UK and stay away overnight
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Strong understanding of safe working practices
