Goodman Masson has exclusively partnered with a high‑growth, international investor backed Tech business to find their new Group Financial Controller. Following a recent investment cycle, the business is embarking on an aggressive scaling journey and needs a high‑calibre finance leader to step in and professionalise their global accounting function. Offices are based in Watford, 3 days in 2 at home. Free Parking on site or walkable from station.
This isn't a steady‑state maintenance role. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will take total ownership of the global finance operation while acting as the driving force behind a major change and modernisation agenda. For the right candidate, this role offers a clear pathway to step up into a broader leadership position through the next investment cycle.
The Role
- System & Process Modernisation: Take the lead on an upcoming group consolidation system implementation, moving the business away from manual processes into a scalable, automated setup.
- Finance Transformation: Review, design, and implement robust internal controls across the global estate to ensure the business is robust and exit‑ready.
- Global Team Leadership: Manage and upskill a high‑performing multi‑currency group consolidation team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Technical Rigour: Act as the anchor for complex accounting matters across international jurisdictions, managing revenue recognition, purchase price accounting (PPA) for new acquisitions, and asset valuations.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Partner closely with FP&A and Commercial Finance, while translating complex financial compliance into clear, actionable data for the CFO and PE investors.
What we are looking for
- Qualification: ACA/CA qualified with a technical grounding from a Top Tier audit practice, followed by strong post‑qualified experience within an international corporate environment. Strong CIMA's also considered.
- Pace & Drive: Prior experience within a fast‑paced, private equity or leveraged environment is highly advantageous. You need to understand the data‑driven intensity required by institutional backers.
- Sectors & Revenue: Experience within Media, Tech, Digital, or Telco is preferred. Given the nature of the business, a solid understanding of recurring revenue streams and subscription accounting mechanics will be highly useful.
- Change Track Record: Proven experience delivering financial change, whether that is an ERP/consolidation system implementation, automating manual workflows, or restructuring teams.
The Opportunity
This role offers a front‑row seat to a classic private equity value‑creation lifecycle. You will have the autonomy to fix legacy processes, build a modern finance function from the ground up, and work closely with a CFO who wants to mentor someone to eventually step up. If you are a high‑energy finance leader who enjoys building best‑in‑class functions and wants to make a tangible impact on a global scale, please apply.
