Goodman Masson are currently working with a social housing organisation in Sussex to recruit for an interim M&E Surveyor. Reporting to the Compliance Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering mechanical, electrical, and energy-related services across residential and non-residential buildings.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Managing contractors and overseeing works on-site
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations
  • Contributing to energy efficiency and carbon reduction initiatives
  • Electrical systems and testing
  • Fire alarms and emergency lighting
  • Mechanical plant and equipment
  • Carbon reduction projects
  • Energy performance assessments (EPCs, SAP calculations)
  • Legionella risk management
  • Health & Safety inspections and reporting (including RIDDOR where required)
  • Liaison with asbestos specialists
  • Preparing technical specifications, drawings, and contract documentation
  • Monitoring project budgets, valuations, and contractor payments
  • Carrying out site inspections and ensuring works meet required standards
  • Maintaining accurate asset data and contributing to statutory reporting

You'll be a technically strong, proactive professional with a passion for delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality building services.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience in M&E maintenance and repair within housing or property
  • Ability to diagnose faults across electrical and mechanical systems
  • Experience managing contractors and supervising works on-site
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations (including electrical standards)
  • Budget monitoring and contract administration experience
  • HNC (or equivalent) in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Experience in social housing or public sector environment
  • Experience with asset management systems and stock condition surveys
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel and work across multiple sites
