I’m supporting the hire of a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join a lean, well-governed IT function within a regulated organisation based in the City of London. This is a hands‑on, senior technical role for someone who enjoys ownership and accountability. You’ll act as a technical authority across infrastructure and workplace services, working closely with an IT Manager and external partners to keep systems secure, stable and evolving. This role suits someone from an MSP or financial services background who is comfortable operating across cloud infrastructure, security and endpoints, and who wants to remain close to the technology.
What you’ll be doing:
- Owning and shaping the Microsoft Azure and M365 infrastructure estate, including Azure AD
- Acting as the senior escalation point for infrastructure and workplace issues
- Designing, implementing and improving Intune, Endpoint Manager and MDM policies
- Leading backup, disaster recovery and business continuity activities
- Working with MSPs on infrastructure changes, security hardening and incident response
- Supporting security and compliance requirements including ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials and GDPR
- Leading infrastructure upgrades, technical changes and vendor‑led initiatives
- Playing a key role in the Microsoft Copilot rollout, including readiness, configuration and governance
- Providing technical guidance and informal leadership to junior IT colleagues
What they’re looking for:
- Strong background as a Senior Infrastructure or Systems Engineer
- Experience in an MSP, financial services or other regulated environment
- Broad Microsoft stack expertise across Azure, M365, Intune and endpoint services
- Confident making technical decisions and owning outcomes
- Hands‑on approach with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels
- Strong understanding of security, compliance and operational controls
Nice to have:
- Microsoft certifications such as AZ-104, SC-300 or PL-300
- PowerShell scripting or automation experience
- Exposure to Microsoft Defender, Sentinel or Purview
Working pattern: Hybrid with 2 days per week onsite in the City of London.
If you’re a senior infrastructure engineer who wants real ownership, visibility and influence while staying hands‑on, message me for a confidential discussion.
