This is a newly created 9 month interim position to provide senior, hands-on financial accounting leadership to the division during a period of organisational change and transition. You must be able to start in May.
It is a key Finance position, reporting into the Finance Director: managing a team of 5, working alongside FP&A and Finance Business Partners for the two lines of business and with regular interactions with Group Treasury, Group Financial Controller and Group CFO.
As the Senior Finance Manager you will be accountable for day-to-day financial control, reporting quality, and balance sheet integrity across the UK and EU entities, ensuring continuity, stability and strong governance.
The successful candidate will bring an innovative approach, looking to continually improve process integrity and team efficiency. Developing your team and delegating to ensure delivery and progression.
Principle accountabilities:- Financial Accounting and Control
- Own and lead month-end close, ensuring accurate, timely and well-controlled delivery in line with group timetable and accounting guidelines.
- Full responsibility for balance sheet integrity, including reconciliations, reviews and issue resolution.
- Maintain strong control over cost recognition, cut-off and postings across operational sites.
- Act as primary accounting contact for Group Finance and external auditors.
- Team Leadership
- Day-to-day leadership of the financial accounting and ledger teams, providing clear direction, prioritisation and support.
- Coaching and support the team to improve quality, consistency and control.
- Reducing manual effort and complexity through standardisation and automation where practical.
- Tax and Treasury
- Provide robust cash management and forecasting, fostered from strong relationships with Operations, Procurement and Commercial teams.
- Ensure that tax requirements are fulfilled accurately and compliantly, whilst optimising payments.
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with post-qualification experience in financial accounting.
- Track record of month-end leadership and balance sheet ownership.
- Experience operating in operational, fast-paced and multi-site environments.
- Able to demonstrate delivery of improved integrity and efficiency in finance processes.
