Actuary, Model Risk ManagementLife Reinsurance | London | Recently Qualified to c.3 Years PQEI'm working with a leading global life reinsurer looking to hire an Actuary into its Model Risk Management team, at a slightly more senior level than the Analyst position. This role would suit a recently qualified actuary through to around 3 years PQE who wants to broaden their experience beyond a single actuarial specialism and take on greater ownership of independent model review, challenge and governance. The team provides assurance to senior management and the Board around the robustness of key actuarial models, while working closely with model owners to strengthen model design, methodology, processes and controls. The role offers exposure across a broad range of actuarial models, including pricing, reporting, economic capital and R&D. Model Risk Analyst, DivisionalWhat will you be doing? Leading or taking significant ownership of independent reviews and validation of actuarial modelsAssessing model methodologies, assumptions, controls and overall model robustnessChallenging modelling approaches and forming a clear independent view on whether methodologies are appropriateReviewing significant model changes and identifying areas of material model riskPerforming or overseeing independent baselining and validation workWorking directly with model owners to agree findings, recommendations and remediation actionsMonitoring progress against actions arising from previous reviewsReviewing model inventory and risk assessmentsContributing to the ongoing development of model risk standards, governance and best practiceProducing clear review reports and management information for senior stakeholdersSupporting broader Model Risk Management initiatives across the businessThese responsibilities build naturally on the core remit of the existing role, which includes independent model review, challenge, remediation monitoring, model inventory assessment and wider MRM initiatives. Model Risk Analyst, DivisionalWhy consider it? Rather than remaining within one actuarial area, you will gain exposure to multiple parts of a global reinsurance business and develop a much broader understanding of how actuarial models are designed, challenged and used in decision-making. It should particularly appeal to someone who wants to: Broaden their experience beyond their current actuarial specialismDevelop stronger judgement and independent challenge skillsTake greater ownership of technically complex reviewsWork with senior stakeholders across pricing, reporting, capital and R&DBuild a deeper understanding of model governance and model riskMove towards more senior roles in model risk, actuarial risk, governance, capital or wider actuarial leadershipFor more information or a confidential discussion, please contact:
