The businesses offices are in Epsom (Surrey, just outside South West London), hybrid working. This is a fantastic opportunity for an adaptable, independent accountant to take full ownership of the monthly finance cycle for a high-growth business with both UK and US operations. You will be the key point of contact for the end-to-end accounting process, ensuring total accuracy across the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.

The Role

This position is perfect for a qualified professional who enjoys being under the bonnet of a finance function in a small-team environment. You will be responsible for the daily operating transactions and the month-end close for multiple entities. Beyond the core reporting, you will manage critical compliance areas including payroll, VAT, and audit preparation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Month-End Ownership: Lead the full month-end close process for both UK and International entities, providing timely reporting of P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow.
  • Revenue & Costs: Manage accurate sales invoicing and revenue recognition (including deferrals/accruals), and oversee purchase invoice processing.
  • Transactional Control: Perform regular reconciliations of all bank and balance sheet accounts to ensure the accuracy and completeness of reported numbers.
  • Payroll & Compliance: Manage the monthly payroll process from data collection to payment; handle VAT returns and all HMRC reporting (PAYE/pensions).
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor short-term cash flow, identify requirements for invoicing facilities, and manage aged receivables/payables.
  • Audit Lead: Maintain the fixed asset register and act as the primary point of contact for collecting and evaluating evidence for external auditors.

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualifications: Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA), or Part Qualified/Finalist.
  • Experience: Proven "hands-on" experience in a small business environment covering bookkeeping, payroll, and statutory requirements.
  • Technical Skills: Excellent working knowledge of Xero and advanced Excel skills.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Strong understanding of UK VAT, PAYE, pensions, and audit standards.
  • Attributes: Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently while engaging flexibly across the business.
