Independent Sexual Violence Advocate

Contract: 3-month, full-time fixed-term contract

Location: Remote/hybrid, with some office presence in London

Salary: £32,000 per annum

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Independent Sexual Violence Advocate (ISVA) to provide short-term, specialist support to LGBTQ+ survivors of sexual violence. This is a full-time, 3-month fixed-term position based within a trauma-informed, person-centred, and empowerment-focused service.

This role focuses on advocacy and practical support for individuals impacted by sexual violence, including engagement with the criminal justice system, emotional and practical assistance, and multi-agency partnership working.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support, advocacy, and advice to LGBTQ+ survivors of sexual violence.
  • Maintain a caseload and deliver needs-led, trauma-informed interventions.
  • Support clients in engaging with the criminal justice system, including police processes, court attendance, and post-trial support.
  • Offer support around access to Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs), forensic medical exams, and other relevant health services.
  • Assist clients with safety planning and access to housing, welfare, and legal remedies.
  • Work in partnership with external agencies to ensure joined-up care and safeguarding.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records on a case management system in line with GDPR and service policies.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience supporting survivors of sexual violence in an advocacy or support role.
  • Knowledge of the impacts of sexual violence on LGBTQ+ individuals and the unique barriers they may face.
  • Understanding of safeguarding best practice (for both children and adults at risk).
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong partnership working skills and experience working within multi-agency settings.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed, person-centred, and empowerment-based support models.

This is a vital role within a dedicated LGBTQ+ advocacy team, supporting survivors through complex and sensitive experiences. The successful candidate will bring professionalism, empathy, and a strong understanding of the needs of LGBTQ+ communities affected by sexual violence.
