Bedfordshire – Hybrid working

I am working Exclusively with a Housing Association in Bedfordshire who are seeking a Head of Commercial.

You will take ownership of all commercial and contractual matters across new build schemes, from pre-contract risk management through to contract administration and final account.

Key areas of responsibility include:

• Leading procurement strategy and ensuring compliance with public procurement legislation
• Overseeing Employer’s Requirements, Design Briefs and specifications across tenure types
• Chairing the Specification Review Group to drive continuous improvement and incorporate customer feedback
• Providing robust build cost budgets to support land bids and investment decisions
• Identifying and mitigating commercial risk at pre-contract stage
• Managing and performance monitoring the Employers Agent Framework
• Providing CDM Principal Designer services and ensuring regulatory compliance
• Supporting delivery teams with variations, final accounts and contractual matters
• Advising on cost trends, benchmarking and value for money

About You

• A strong background as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager
• Extensive experience administering JCT Design & Build contracts
• Expertise in negotiating and reviewing building contracts, professional appointments and development agreements
• Proven experience advising on risk, procurement strategy and value engineering within mixed tenure residential development
• A solid understanding of construction legislation and CDM Regulations
• Experience leading and developing high-performing teams
• Professional membership (RICS, CIOB, RIBA or similar) and Chartered status (or equivalent experience) are essential.
